Pion, in collaboration with the University of Bath (Dr. Randall Mrsny and Kate Gridley), has recently published a study highlighting the enhanced robustness of the artificial extracellular matrix (ECM) at the core of the SCISSOR instrument (Gomes, Conor, et al., *European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics*, vol. 199, 2024). In this work, we will discuss an 'extended release' ECM format and demonstrate how the mechanical properties and inclusion of biomolecules influence the behavior of pharmaceutical injectates within a SCISSOR assay.
