Dissolution imaging/UV imaging is increasingly used in drug development for the characterization of drug substances, excipients and delivery systems. The ability to image in the UV wavelength range at the aqueous-solid (formulation) interface is key for attaining new insights in dissolution and release processes. Speakers from industry and academia will provide a thorough introduction to dissolution imaging for the new user and offer an opportunity for more experienced researchers to discuss and develop best practices. Application Chemist Breeze Outhwaite will be giving two of the talks.
The workshop will cover:
- Basics of UV imaging technology and instrumentation (SDI, SDi2, D200)
- Sample preparation and characterization
- Method development, data analysis and interpretation
- Applications: Intrinsic dissolution rates, monitoring solid form changes, release and diffusion studies, whole dosage from imaging (tablets and capsules), precipitation assays.
- Hands-on lab exercises
The 2½ day workshop is organized as part of the NordForsk for the Nordic University Hub project #85352 (Nordic POP, Patient Oriented Products) and the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Staff Exchange project CRYDIS #644056. Please see the attached program for details
